Dutch municipality selects ONE-DNA™ artificial grass again

The Dutch municipality of Berkel en Rodenrijs has once again chosen ONE-DNA™ circular artificial grass for the realisation of a sustainable playground on the Arnemuiderpad. Changemaker KSP Kunstgras provided the fall-safe surfaces for this special renovation.

After the success of two previous football pitches, the municipality chose ONE-DNA™ again. This time the circular artificial turf was integrated into a play area where both the fall surface (artificial turf) and the play equipment needed to be replaced. Here, KSP used a sustainably constructed system using Schmitz circular shock pads, ONE-DNA™ artificial turf and recycled sand infill from sports fields.

GREEN SUSTAINABLE PLAYGROUNDS

The municipality of Berkel en Rodenrijs wants to make playgrounds greener and more sustainable. The choice of ONE-DNA™ fits in perfectly with this mission. ONE-DNA™ mono-material artificial grass consists of 100% PE and therefore retains its full raw material value when the grass mat is at the end of its life. In addition, this circular surface contributes to the adaptation of playgrounds to climate change, an essential transition in view of the increasing intensity of rainfall.

REUSE AND CIRCULARITY

What makes this renovation in Berkel en Rodenrijs even more special is the reuse of existing play equipment. The recently installed slide, climbing frame and tumble frame were still in excellent condition and perfectly matched the results of the participation of ‘De Speeltuinchef’. By reusing this equipment and applying ONE-DNA™ circular artificial grass, the municipality has not only created a sustainable playground, but also an affordable solution that the children of the municipality will enjoy playing on.

GREEN OASIS

Eveline van der Velden, project manager for the municipality of Lansingerland: “This sustainable project is an example of how municipalities can make sustainable playgrounds the new standard. Through intelligent reuse, participation and innovative choice of materials, the municipality of Berkel en Rodenrijs shows how it can be done; safe, sustainable and responsible play with an eye to the future.

The design for this green oasis was created by Jette Hannaart. The involvement of municipal officials Eveline van der Velden and Martin Kraaijenbos, caretaker Dennis Zegers and play consultant Serge Meeuws ensured a smooth implementation. HVR, responsible for the implementation, worked closely with supervisor Martin Kraaijenbos and superintendent Jan Willem Verweij to ensure that the project went according to plan.
