Local recycling is essential to reducing CO₂ emissions and transport costs. With ONE-DNA™ artificial grass and the Take-Back program, you directly contribute to this sustainable approach. The grass is designed as a mono-material, allowing it to be recycled efficiently and eco-friendly without unnecessary transport. But it goes beyond simply improving recycling, it’s about how you, as a customer, can easily recycle materials at the end of their lifecycle through existing plastic recycling facilities.
Why Local Recycling?
Local recycling is not only logical; it is also the most sustainable choice for the artificial grass industry. You wouldn’t want your old artificial grass to be transported over long distances or even to other countries, would you? That creates unnecessary CO₂ emissions and leads to sky-high transport costs.
With ONE-DNA™ artificial grass, you choose a smart solution. Since it is made from a single polymer (PE), it is fully compatible with standard plastic recycling facilities near you. This means you don’t have to rely on specialized artificial grass recycling centers. Thanks to its mono-material design, your grass can easily be processed into high-quality PE products. The process is quick, circular, and helps preserve valuable raw materials locally.
Take-Back Program
When you choose ONE-DNA™, we make sure through the Take-Back program that you know exactly how your artificial grass can be recycled at the end of its lifecycle. The Changemaker can register the project easily via the ONE-DNA™ app. Once registered, you will receive a Warranty and Take-Back Certificate. This certificate clearly explains how the Take-Back program works and includes a link to the Take-Back page. This ensures proper recycling and enables you to contribute to a circular economy.
Collaborating with Changemakers
Innovation begins with collaboration. Erik Hedberg from Changemaker Nordic Surface in Sweden partnered with Orbit Supply Chain in Stockholm. Together, they are pioneering new recycling solutions for plastics. We worked together to test how residual material from ONE-DNA™ artificial grass could be recycled locally in standard plastic recycling facilities.
The process turned out to be remarkably efficient: clean waste was shredded and ground, with no washing process required. The material was then extruded, regranulated, and compounded into a new, high-quality PE material.
Carl Pahlman, CEO of Orbit, shared: “At Orbit, we help companies find effective recycling solutions for their products. Our recent trial with ONE-DNA™ was very promising. The high homogeneity of the material allows us to reuse it on a large scale, both in injection molding and extrusion processes.”
You Make the Difference
With ONE-DNA™ artificial grass, you choose a truly circular solution. Its homogeneous material allows it to be reused in various applications, all while minimizing environmental impact. Together, we are creating a future where recycling is second nature.
