For years, Basisschool De Phoenix in Zwolle faced the challenges of having a grass field on their schoolyard. The natural grass reacted to every weather condition: in dry periods, it created dust clouds and dirty classrooms, while rain turned it into a mud pit. The result? Dirty clothes, messy hallways, and limited playtime for the children.

The field, located next to the school and in the heart of a residential neighborhood, serves more than just the students of De Phoenix. After school hours, it also attracts children from the surrounding community. Faced with these challenges, the school asked themselves: how can we create a green and sustainable playground that stays clean and playable all year round?

After consulting with the team at Vario Fields, the school chose ONE-DNA™ artificial grass. Thanks to this sustainable solution, De Phoenix now has a playground that remains clean and safe for play year-round, regardless of the weather.

Take Back Program

An essential aspect of the sustainability of ONE-DNA™ artificial grass is the Take Back Program. At the end of the artificial grass’s lifecycle, it can be easily registered through the specially developed ONE-DNA™ app. This app ensures traceability for the recycling artificial grass. It enables the preservation of valuable raw materials and contributes to a circular economy.

An Inviting Space in Harmony with the Community

Respecting the natural boundaries of the playground, the school decided not to install fencing. This choice preserves the field’s green, open look and keeps it accessible and inviting for neighborhood children. The existing goals were reinstalled, allowing for plenty of football, now on a field that is both sustainable and weather-resistant.
