What matters

What an event surface has to handle.

Events compress a surface’s whole life into a few days.

Fire requirements

The venue sets the fire requirement. Results are tested per product and configuration.

Install and remove

Time on site is short. Rolls, seams and anchoring have to go down quickly and come up cleanly.

Footfall

Crowds gather at entrances, bars and stages. The surface has to cope, and keep its look.

Before you specify

Ask the questions the venue will ask.

Venues and the authority having jurisdiction ask for documents, not descriptions.

Reaction to fireThe fire test or classification report that exists for the product and configuration you will install, loose-laid or with infill, and the standard behind it.
Installation and removalHow the surface is laid, seamed and removed, and how long that takes.
After the eventWhat happens next: reuse, storage, or collection for recycling where a route exists.
Material testingResults of SGS testing for substances of very high concern under EU REACH, PAHs and the migration of elements to the European standard EN 71-3, on the products named in the report.

A fire classification applies only to the product and configuration tested.

Discuss your projectTell us the venue, the dates and the fire requirements. We’ll come back with the surfaces and configurations that fit.

Questions about event surfaces

Which fire rating does an event surface need?

The venue or the authority having jurisdiction sets the requirement. ONE-DNA™ results are European classes under EN 13501-1, not US fire ratings, and apply only to the product and configuration tested. Ask which fire test or classification report exists for what you will install.

Can event grass be reused?

It can be, if it is lifted, cleaned and stored with care. Whether it is fit for reuse depends on how it was used and its condition.

What happens to the surface after the event?

It can be stored for reuse. It is designed for recycling: fiber and backing are joined without a conventional latex or polyurethane coating, and each product follows one material route. Whether a surface is actually recycled depends on removal, collection and the recycling options available at the time. More on end of life →

How quickly can it be installed?

That depends on the area, access and configuration. Plan installation and removal with your installer when you book the venue.
