Description

A lawn for the way a backyard is really used

Most backyards are lived in rather than looked at: kids, pets, a table on the grass. Designers and landscape contractors need a surface that suits daily use and still reads as a lawn from the house. ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 is the everyday option, at a 35 mm (1.4 in) pile with a straight monofilament and a curled thatch.

Choose it on appearance and use. On a roof, in a play area or indoors, the requirements of that space decide the build-up.

Family backyards and landscaped outdoor spaces first. ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 is also considered for roof decks, event areas and daycare outdoor areas, where the project’s own installation and safety requirements set the build-up.
Available as ONE-DNA™ 100% PE or ONE-DNA™ 100% PO. 100% PE gives a soft, flexible lawn; 100% PO combines the softness of PE fibres with the stability of a PP backing. Tell us about your project and we'll advise which suits it.
Built with FuseTech™, which bonds the fibers into the backing with heat instead of a latex or polyurethane secondary coating.
Tufted, with a straight monofilament for the visible blade and a shorter curled thatch near the backing. The thatch supports the upright fibres and adds the brown tone low in the pile that keeps the lawn from looking uniform.
On the 100% PE route, the datasheet advises more than 10 kg of dried silica sand per square meter (about 2 lb per sq ft), grading 0.5 to 1.0 mm with about 80% rounded grains. The sand ballasts the carpet and keeps the fibers upright. For 100% PO, ask us for the infill advice.
650 l/min/m² (about 1,535 in/hr), the same for every ONE-DNA™ product.
ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 has no EN 1177 critical fall height result and is not intended for use under play equipment. On a roof, the roof designer specifies the build-up, drainage and fire requirements.
Reaction to fire for ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 depends on the installed build-up, because infill changes the result. No reaction-to-fire test result is published yet for this product. Ask us if your project has a fire requirement.
Warranty and maintenance conditions are set out in our warranty terms.

Designed for recycling

It starts with the materials

Fiber and backing are joined without a latex or polyurethane coating, within one material route. Whether the product is recycled depends on collection and local processing.

Related knowledge

ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 is used mainly in family backyards and landscaped outdoor spaces, where the lawn is walked on, played on and looked at every day. It is also considered for roof decks, event areas and daycare outdoor areas. In those spaces the installation, drainage, fire and fall-height requirements of the project decide the build-up.
Orion 40 has a longer pile and more fiber weight. On the 100% PE route, ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 has a 35 mm (1.4 in) pile and a face weight of 1,653 g/m² (48.8 oz/yd²); Orion 40 has a 40 mm (1.6 in) pile and 1,850 g/m² (54.6 oz/yd²), with the same yarn and stitch rate. Choose Orion 35 for an everyday lawn and Orion 40 where a fuller, deeper lawn suits the space.
Both have a 35 mm pile and the same stitch rate. On the 100% PE route, Elan 35 uses a heavier 12,800/14 dtex yarn against 10,800/12 dtex for Orion 35, which gives it a face weight of 1,880 g/m² against 1,653 g/m². In practice Elan 35 carries more fibre per square metre. Compare the two side by side as samples, because colour and feel are best judged in person.
Yes. ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 is offered in 100% PE and 100% PO, each with its own technical data. The values on this page are for 100% PE.
On the 100% PE route the datasheet advises more than 10 kg of dried silica sand per square meter (about 2 lb per sq ft), graded 0.5 to 1.0 mm with about 80% rounded grains. The sand ballasts the carpet and keeps the fibers upright. Ask us for the infill advice for 100% PO.
ONE-DNA™ Orion 35 can be part of a daycare outdoor area, away from play equipment. It has no EN 1177 critical fall height result, so where equipment introduces a fall height, ask us about a suitable impact-attenuating build-up.
