Description

A fuller lawn look for urban outdoor spaces

Patios, roof gardens and small urban yards are seen up close and used hard. A lawn there has to stand up well and look full from a short distance. ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 has the same 35 mm (1.4 in) pile and stitch rate as Orion 35, with a heavier yarn, so it carries more fiber per square meter.

It is available in 100% PE and 100% PO. For the 100% PE route, a reaction-to-fire test report covers loose-laid installation without infill.

Available as ONE-DNA™ 100% PE or ONE-DNA™ 100% PO, each with its own technical data. The values on this page are for 100% PE. Tell us how the lawn will be used and we'll advise which route suits it.
Built with FuseTech™, which bonds the fibers into the backing with heat instead of a latex or polyurethane secondary coating.
Tufted, with a heavier straight monofilament and a curled thatch. At the same pile height and stitch rate as Orion 35, the heavier yarn raises the face weight from 1,653 to 1,880 g/m² (48.8 to 55.4 oz/yd²) on the 100% PE route.
On the 100% PE route, the datasheet advises 10 kg of dried silica sand per square meter (about 2 lb per sq ft), grading 0.5 to 1.0 mm with about 80% rounded grains. For 100% PO, ask us for the infill advice.
650 l/min/m² (about 1,535 in/hr), the same for every ONE-DNA™ product.
ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 has no EN 1177 critical fall height result and is not intended for use under play equipment. On a roof, the roof designer specifies the build-up, drainage and fire requirements.
Reaction to fire depends on the installed build-up, because infill changes the result. For the 100% PE construction, a Ghent University test report covers loose-laid installation without infill; a sanded installation is a different configuration. The 100% PO construction has not yet been tested. Ask us for the documentation for your configuration.

ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 is used in backyards, patios, rooftop amenity spaces, landscaped outdoor areas, events and interiors, where a full lawn is seen from close by. On a roof or indoors the fire and drainage requirements of the project decide the build-up.
Both have a 35 mm (1.4 in) pile and the same stitch rate. ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 uses a heavier 12,800/14 dtex yarn, so on the 100% PE route its face weight is 1,880 g/m² (55.4 oz/yd²) against 1,653 g/m² (48.8 oz/yd²) for Orion 35. Elan 35 therefore carries more fiber per square meter. Color and feel are best compared side by side as samples.
Elan 45 uses the same yarn at a longer 45 mm (1.8 in) pile, with a face weight of 2,320 g/m² (68.4 oz/yd²) on the 100% PE route. ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 gives a neater, shorter lawn; Elan 45 a deeper, more relaxed one for larger spaces.
For the 100% PE construction, loose laid without infill, Ghent University test report 24-0679-01 to the European methods EN ISO 9239-1 and EN ISO 11925-2 gives a result corresponding to the European class Bfl-s1 under EN 13501-1, not a US fire rating. The result applies to that configuration only. A sanded installation and the 100% PO construction are not covered.
Not for current production. An earlier EPD to EN 15804+A2 (MRPI 1.1.00539.2024, modules A1 to A3) covers ONE-DNA™ Elan 35 in 100% PE made at Hasselt in the Netherlands. It does not cover production in Portugal or the 100% PO route. EPDs for current production are in their final stage.
