Applications · Sport
Sport surfaces are specified as systems.
Ball roll, grip and shock absorption come from the full build-up: carpet, shockpad, infill, base and drainage.
Start with the sport and the level of play.

What matters
What the pitch has to deliver.
The carpet is one layer of the system. Performance is measured on the whole.
- Playing performanceBall behaviour and player interaction, tested on the build-up against the standard your sport uses.
- Intensity of useHours per week, age groups and the maintenance regime decide the carpet and the infill.
- Whole-system designShockpad, infill, base and drainage are designed together with the carpet.

In practice
From first pilot to further development.
The City of Utrecht was the first municipality to run a ONE-DNA™ pilot, on two full-size competition football pitches. The project was delivered with CSC Sport (Zeewolde, the Netherlands), GreenFields and TenCate.
The pitches use first-generation ONE-DNA™ technology, so structured monitoring was set up from the start. They are in everyday use for football and, at the same time, provide practical experience. That experience has fed into the further development of ONE-DNA™ sports field technology; today's generation differs from these first pitches. For professional FIFA-certified football pitches, the commercial route runs directly through GreenFields and TenCate.
Across the industry
A welcome step forward for artificial grass in sport.
From 1 January 2027, the environmental impact of artificial grass on official sports pitches in the Netherlands will have a clearer place. A new Dutch sustainability label makes the environmental performance of artificial grass products easier to see and to compare.
It is a development we welcome at ONE-DNA™. We have worked with life cycle assessments (LCAs) and environmental product declarations (EPDs) for some time to understand the environmental impact of our products.
It is good to see this way of thinking take shape in sport. An inspiring step from the Netherlands that we hope other countries will follow.

Products
Three surfaces for sport.
All three are supplied in 100% PO and specified as part of a complete pitch system. Each product page states which results exist for that product.

Before you specify
Ask for results on the system you’ll build.
A sport surface is only as good as the build-up it was tested on.
Results apply to the build-up tested, not to a product on its own.
Can one pitch serve football and hockey?
Pure PT One is designed as one artificial grass pitch for football and hockey, for sites that have room for one pitch, not two. The build-up is specified per project.
Does a sport surface need infill?
It depends on the product and the sport. Pure Play 28 and Pure PT One are used without performance infill. Matrix 30 is installed with infill, following the installation guideline.
What does a sport certification cover?
Sport certifications apply to a tested system or an installed pitch, not to a product range. Ask for the report for the build-up and, where required, field testing after installation.
Why are ONE-DNA™ sport surfaces made in 100% PO?
Sport needs soft fibres on a carpet that stays stable under intensive use. 100% PO combines the softness of PE fibres with the stability of a PP backing, so every ONE-DNA™ sport surface is made in this route. How material routes work →
