ONE-DNA™ shifts gears: new production line live

The launch of the new ONE-DNA™ production line at Safina in Portugal marks an important milestone in the development of the ONE-DNA™ platform. More than a production upgrade, it represents the next phase in bringing mono-material artificial grass systems to market at greater scale.

From concept to production

What began as a design challenge has evolved into a fully operational production process. The central question was straightforward: can artificial grass be developed around a mono-material polyethylene design while maintaining the performance requirements expected from modern artificial grass systems?

The new production line provides the manufacturing capacity needed to support the continued growth of ONE-DNA™ across landscaping, play, sport and event applications.

Built for scale

The facility at Safina has been developed to support efficient and consistent production of ONE-DNA™ products. As demand for transparent material composition and documented product information continues to grow, the new production line provides the foundation for broader market adoption.

The launch also reflects the close collaboration between the ONE-DNA™ team, Safina and a growing network of partners across Europe.

A milestone worth celebrating

The official opening in April brought together Changemakers, partners and industry professionals from across Europe. Over two days, attendees shared experiences, explored new developments and discussed the future of artificial grass design.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new production facility, providing a first look at the manufacturing process behind the next generation of ONE-DNA™ products.

Looking ahead

The new production line marks an important step in the continued development of ONE-DNA™. With increased production capacity and growing market interest, the focus remains on material design, transparent material composition and documented product performance. The next chapter of ONE-DNA™ is now underway.

Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA™ range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE). ONE-DNA™ now also includes a 100% PO route; see Technology for the current material routes.
