A significant milestone was reached in the development of ONE-DNA™ sports systems. In Utrecht, the first full-size ONE-DNA™ artificial soccer field was installed, showing how ONE-DNA™ material design principles could be applied at the highest level of artificial turf applications.
The project marked an important step in the development of ONE-DNA™ within the sports sector.
From landscaping to sport
ONE-DNA™ was first introduced through landscaping and play applications. The installation in Utrecht demonstrated how the same material design principles could also be applied to full-scale sports surfaces.
The field was installed in 100% PE (one polymer), combining sports performance requirements with transparent material composition and documented product information.
Collaboration in practice
The project was delivered through a collaboration between GreenFields, CSC Sport and the ONE-DNA™ team, with support from the Municipality of Utrecht.
By bringing together expertise in sports infrastructure, installation and product development, the partners delivered a field that demonstrates how material design considerations can be integrated into modern sports facilities.
As often happens with innovation, progress begins with organizations willing to explore new approaches and apply them in real-world environments.
Why this matters
The installation represented more than a new soccer field. It demonstrated how material composition is becoming an increasingly important consideration alongside performance, safety and durability.
As conversations around material transparency, documentation and product traceability continue to evolve, projects like this provide practical examples of how these principles can be applied in sports infrastructure.
Looking ahead
The first full-size ONE-DNA™ soccer field provided a reference point for future developments within the sports sector. It showed how artificial turf systems can be designed around material simplicity while continuing to meet the requirements of modern sport.
For ONE-DNA™, this was an important milestone. Not the end of a journey, but the beginning of a new chapter in sports surface development.
Update, October 2026: this project used ONE-DNA™ in 100% PE. ONE-DNA™ sport surfaces are now supplied in 100% PO; see Technology for the current material routes.
