Tomorrowland 2024: a new chapter with ONE-DNA™

Following the use of ONE-DNA™ artificial grass at Tomorrowland 2023, the collaboration continued for the 2024 edition of the festival. At the time of publication, preparations were underway, with ONE-DNA™ once again selected for several areas across the festival site.

The project showed how material selection, project planning and collaboration can come together within one of Europe’s most recognized events.

Temporary installations, long-term thinking

Artificial grass is widely used at major events to create attractive and functional visitor spaces. Historically, temporary installations have often relied on products that were difficult to process after use due to complex material compositions.

For Tomorrowland, a different approach was chosen.

The ONE-DNA™ artificial grass used was made in 100% PE (one polymer), providing greater transparency regarding material composition and supporting documented material management after the event.

Material pathways after use

Following Tomorrowland 2023, the installed artificial grass was collected for material processing through established material handling and processing partners.

The project provided valuable practical experience regarding the handling and collection of artificial grass made from one polymer after intensive event use.

By documenting these processes, the participating organizations aimed to expand industry knowledge around material management for temporary event installations.

Collaboration across the value chain

Projects of this scale require close cooperation between multiple partners. From planning and installation to collection and processing, each organization contributes specialized expertise that helps ensure the successful delivery of the project.

The collaboration between Tomorrowland, installation partners, processing partners and the ONE-DNA™ partner network showed the value of coordinated action throughout the project lifecycle.

Looking ahead to Tomorrowland 2024

As preparations continued for the next edition of the festival, the focus remained on delivering high-quality visitor experiences while continuing to explore new approaches to material transparency and project documentation.

Tomorrowland 2024 was another opportunity to show how innovation, collaboration and practical experience can contribute to the ongoing development of the artificial grass industry.

Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA™ range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE); see Technology for the current material routes. ONE-DNA™ does not currently operate a take-back program.
