For landscapers and artificial grass installers, product selection often involves balancing appearance, performance, safety and long-term maintenance requirements. ONE-DNA™ artificial grass has been developed to provide a consistent appearance while incorporating design features intended to support end-of-life recycling.
Designed for Long-Term Performance
ONE-DNA™ artificial grass products undergo testing to evaluate their performance over time, including aging tests that assess characteristics such as appearance and durability under simulated environmental conditions.
These evaluations help provide confidence that the product maintains its intended performance characteristics throughout its service life.
Safety Considerations
ONE-DNA™ artificial grass has been tested against relevant safety requirements, including EN 71-3. The product has also been assessed for substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in accordance with applicable testing protocols.
These assessments provide information that may assist customers, designers and installers when evaluating products for use in gardens, play environments and public spaces.
Material Composition
ONE-DNA™ artificial grass was made in 100% PE (one polymer). This design was intended to simplify material recovery compared with products that contain multiple polymer types.
At the end of its service life, the material may be suitable for recycling where appropriate collection, processing and recycling infrastructure is available.
End of life
ONE-DNA™ does not currently operate a take-back program. What happens at end of life depends on the project owner, collection, logistics and the processing routes available locally.
Participation and recycling outcomes depend on the condition of the material and the availability of local collection and processing facilities.
Integration into Garden Designs
ONE-DNA™ artificial grass can be incorporated into a wide range of landscape designs, including gardens, recreational spaces and areas where natural grass may be difficult to establish or maintain.
The product includes a permeable backing structure designed to allow water to pass through the surface, supporting drainage within the overall landscape design.
Transparency and Responsible Product Development
At the time, ONE-DNA™ was supported by environmental assessment initiatives including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) development; the EPDs were verified via MRPI in 2024 for the product stage (A1 to A3) of the former Hasselt production. These tools provide standardized information regarding product characteristics and environmental impacts, enabling informed decision-making based on measurable data.
By combining product performance, safety testing and transparency, ONE-DNA™ offers landscape professionals an artificial grass solution supported by documented product information.
Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA™ range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE). ONE-DNA™ now also includes a 100% PO route; see Technology. The EPDs mentioned (MRPI, 2024) cover the product stage (A1 to A3) of products made at the former Hasselt site and do not represent current production in Portugal. Earlier references to a take-back program have been revised; ONE-DNA™ does not currently operate a take-back program in any market.
