The ONE-DNA™ Take-Back Program as announced in 2023 (archived)

In August 2023, the ONE-DNA™ Take-Back Program was announced to provide a structured collection route for ONE-DNA™ artificial grass at the end of its service life.

The program was intended to support customers, installers and project owners with a documented process for the collection and transfer of used ONE-DNA™ artificial grass for further material processing.

How the Program was set up

The Take-Back Program, as announced, offered two collection options.

Option 1: Replacement Installation

When existing ONE-DNA™ artificial grass was replaced with new ONE-DNA™ artificial grass, the installation partner could remove the original surface as part of the replacement project.

The removed material would then be collected and transferred through the Take-Back Program for further material processing.

For the customer, this process was to be integrated into the installation project, without additional administration.

Option 2: Self-Delivery

Customers could also remove the artificial grass themselves and deliver the material, packed in suitable collection bags, to a participating partner location.

This option was intended for customers who preferred to manage removal independently while still making use of the Take-Back Program.

Material Registration

Where applicable, installed ONE-DNA™ products could be registered within the Take-Back Program. Product information such as product type, roll identification and installation location could be recorded to support future collection and material tracking.

This registration process was intended to provide additional transparency regarding the installed product and its participation in the program.

Why the Take-Back Program was introduced

In many regions, disposal costs for artificial grass can vary depending on local waste management policies and collection systems.

The Take-Back Program was planned as an alternative collection route specifically designed for ONE-DNA™ artificial grass products, giving customers a structured end-of-life option for the material.

Collaboration Across the Supply Chain

The Take-Back Program was based on cooperation between installers, customers, collection partners and processing organizations.

Through this collaborative approach, materials were to be collected separately from general waste streams and directed towards appropriate processing routes where available.

Looking Back

The ONE-DNA™ Take-Back Program formed part of the efforts at the time to develop practical material management solutions for artificial grass products.

By proposing a documented collection process and collaboration throughout the value chain, the program set out a framework for managing ONE-DNA™ artificial grass after use.

Update, October 2026: this article describes the ONE-DNA™ Take-Back Program as presented in August 2023 and is kept as a record of that time. ONE-DNA™ does not currently operate a take-back program, and the collection options described above are not available.
