SGS Intron aging tests on ONE-DNA™ artificial grass

To better understand how ONE-DNA™ artificial grass performs over time, we commissioned SGS Intron, an independent testing and certification institute, to conduct accelerated aging tests on selected products.

The assessment examined how exposure to environmental conditions may influence the material properties of the artificial grass over an extended period.

Independent aging assessment

The testing program subjected product samples to accelerated aging conditions, including:

  • UV radiation
  • Elevated temperatures
  • Water exposure

The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate changes in selected material characteristics after simulated long-term outdoor exposure.

According to the test program, the aging process represented approximately ten years of outdoor use under controlled laboratory conditions. Accelerated aging results are not a prediction of service life on site.

What was evaluated?

During the assessment, SGS Intron periodically measured and analyzed a range of product characteristics, including:

  • Fiber Properties
  • Fiber length
  • Fiber diameter
  • Color characteristics
  • Polymer Properties
  • Melt Flow Index (MFI)
  • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

These measurements were performed on both the fibers and backing materials used within the ONE-DNA™ product structure.

Test results

According to SGS Intron, the tested samples showed limited changes in the measured properties following the accelerated aging program.

The report noted a change in the Melt Mass-Flow Rate (MFR) of the material after exposure to the simulated aging conditions.

The measured results provide technical information regarding how the material characteristics evolved during the test period and contribute to a broader understanding of long-term product performance.

Supporting product transparency

Independent testing forms an important part of our commitment to providing documented product information.

Aging assessments, together with other technical evaluations and product testing programs, help build a clearer understanding of material behavior over time and provide objective data that can support specification and product selection processes.
