TeBe Sport renovates playgrounds with ONE-DNA™

TeBe Sport recently completed the renovation of three multi-purpose playgrounds in Kåfjord, Norway, using ONE-DNA™ artificial grass. The project was completed during the summer of 2023 and forms part of ongoing investments in recreational and sports facilities within the region.

Renovation and material processing

As part of the refurbishment, the existing artificial grass surfaces were removed before the installation of the new playground systems. The removed materials were processed through All Sports Recycled, the recycling company operated by TeBe Sport that manages end-of-life artificial grass from sports clubs and municipalities throughout Norway.

This process supports the collection and processing of used artificial grass materials through established recycling channels.

Efficient installation

Each playground renovation was completed within two days. The new surface system included:

  • ONE-DNA™ artificial grass
  • A 12 mm shockpad for impact attenuation
  • Recovered infill sand sourced from previously used artificial grass systems

The combination of these elements created a durable and practical surface suitable for everyday recreational use.

Community response

The completed playgrounds were well received by both local authorities and the Kåfjord community. The renovated facilities provide modern play spaces designed for regular use by children and local residents.

Collaboration in practice

The project demonstrates the collaboration between TeBe Sport, All Sports Recycled and ONE-DNA™ in delivering playground solutions that incorporate material recovery and end-of-life processing considerations.

ONE-DNA™ artificial grass was made in 100% PE (one polymer). This design approach aligned with Design for Recycling principles that are increasingly being explored across multiple industries.

Lars Solberg of TeBe Sport said at the time that the company continuously looks for opportunities to improve its products and services. He explained that working with ONE-DNA™ allowed TeBe Sport to offer customers an artificial grass solution designed with material recovery in mind, while maintaining the performance characteristics required for sports and recreational applications.

Looking ahead

Projects such as Kåfjord demonstrate how collaboration between installers, recyclers and manufacturers can contribute to the ongoing development of artificial grass systems and end-of-life processing solutions within the industry.

Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA™ range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE). ONE-DNA™ now also includes a 100% PO route; see Technology for the current material routes.
