KSP Kunstgras completed the installation of a ONE-DNA™ soccer pitch in the Tivoli district of Tilburg, the Netherlands, on behalf of the municipality.
The project provides a practical example of how municipalities are increasingly evaluating product performance, material composition and documented environmental information when selecting artificial grass systems for public spaces.
A new sports facility for the community
The soccer pitch was developed as a recreational and sporting facility for local residents, providing a hard-wearing and attractive surface for everyday use.
Installed by KSP Kunstgras, the project combined quality sports infrastructure with a product supported by transparent material information and independent documentation.
The ONE-DNA™ concept
The pitch was installed with ONE-DNA™ artificial grass in 100% PE (one polymer).
The approach focused on:
- Material transparency
- Simplified material composition
- Product traceability
- Design for recycling principles
By using one polymer throughout, the product differed from many conventional artificial grass systems that combine multiple material types within a single product.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
At the time, the ONE-DNA™ product used in this project was covered by a 2024 MRPI Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the product stage (A1 to A3), based on production at the former Hasselt site.
An EPD provides independently verified environmental information based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and allows products to be evaluated using a recognised and standardised methodology.
For municipalities and project owners, EPDs can support procurement processes by providing transparent and comparable product information.
A practical example of material transparency
The Tivoli project demonstrates how public-sector projects increasingly consider factors beyond appearance and performance alone.
Material composition, independent documentation and product transparency are becoming more important elements within the decision-making process.
Looking ahead
The installation of the ONE-DNA™ soccer pitch in Tilburg highlighted the growing role of documented product information within public projects.
Through collaboration between the municipality of Tilburg, KSP Kunstgras and the ONE-DNA™ partner network, the project delivered a modern sports facility and a practical example of how product transparency and material design can support informed decision-making.
Update, October 2026: this project used ONE-DNA™ in 100% PE. ONE-DNA™ sport surfaces are now supplied in 100% PO; see Technology. The EPDs mentioned (MRPI, 2024) covered the product stage (A1 to A3) of products made at the former Hasselt site and do not represent current production in Portugal.
