In Harsewinkel, a town located between Münster and Bielefeld, Heiler completed its first ONE-DNA™ artificial turf field installation in Germany. Situated within a busy city park, the field provides a versatile space for sport, recreation and everyday community use.
Built around material design
Many conventional artificial turf systems consist of multiple materials combined into a single structure. ONE-DNA™ follows a different approach. The field in Harsewinkel was installed in 100% PE (one polymer), supported by transparent material composition and documented product information.
The project in Harsewinkel demonstrates how material considerations can be incorporated alongside performance, durability and usability when developing sports facilities.
A place to play for everyone
Since opening in April 2025, the field has become an active space for people of all ages to play, exercise and meet. Located within the city park, the installation contributes to a welcoming environment for schools, local residents and sports enthusiasts.
The project shows how well-designed sports surfaces can support regular community use while maintaining the performance expected from modern artificial turf systems.
Collaboration
The project was delivered through a collaboration between Heiler, GreenFields and the ONE-DNA™ team. With more than 60 years of experience in sports field construction, Heiler continues to explore new approaches to sports surface design and installation.
By combining technical expertise with innovative material design, the partners delivered a field that supports both performance requirements and transparent material information.
Why this matters
The Harsewinkel project was an important milestone for ONE-DNA™ in Germany. It demonstrated growing interest in artificial turf systems where material composition, documentation and performance are considered together during the specification process.
As conversations around material transparency continue to develop across the industry, projects like this show how design choices made at the start can influence how sports surfaces are understood throughout their lifecycle.
Update, October 2026: this project used ONE-DNA™ in 100% PE. ONE-DNA™ sport surfaces are now supplied in 100% PO; see Technology for the current material routes.
