At Elementary School De Klimop in Lintelo, the schoolyard has been renovated with a strong focus on durability, safety, and long-term usability.
The project combines three impact-absorbing play surfaces made with ONE-DNA™ artificial grass and new play equipment supplied by Kompan, creating a playground designed to support intensive daily use, with surfaces designed for recycling.
Designed for everyday use
When planning the renovation, the school sought a solution that would provide an attractive and safe play environment for children while considering the long-term performance of the materials used.
Playgrounds at schools are often exposed to intensive use throughout the year. In certain locations, maintaining a consistent grass surface can be challenging due to frequent foot traffic and concentrated play activities around equipment.
For these areas, impact-absorbing artificial grass surfaces can provide an alternative that supports both safety and year-round usability.
Material choice
The playground includes ONE-DNA™ Play artificial grass, a product with a single-polymer construction, designed for recycling.
Combined with the play equipment supplied by Kompan, the project demonstrates how schools can incorporate considerations such as durability, maintenance, safety, and material recovery into playground design.
Working together
Projects such as this illustrate how schools, suppliers, and contractors can work together to explore new approaches to playground development. By carefully selecting materials and considering the full lifecycle of products, organisations can make informed choices that align with their functional requirements and long-term objectives.
We thank Elementary School De Klimop and all project partners for their collaboration and are proud to have contributed to the creation of this new play environment.
