Description

When one site has to serve two sports

Many schools, councils and clubs have room for one synthetic turf pitch, while soccer and hockey both need time on it. Two single-sport pitches take land, budget and upkeep that many sites do not have. ONE-DNA™ Pure PT One is designed for that situation: one pitch, shared by both sports, planned as part of a complete system.

Soccer and hockey ask different things of a surface, from how the ball rolls to how the pitch responds underfoot. That is why the performance of a shared pitch belongs to the whole build-up, synthetic turf, shockpad and base together, and is confirmed by testing the installed pitch rather than the grass on its own.

Everything a specifier needs

Colors

Soccer and hockey on one shared pitch, for schools, councils, community sports grounds, clubs and multi-sport facilities. The level of play a pitch is built for is set in the project specification and confirmed by testing the installed pitch.
ONE-DNA™ 100% PO, combining the softness of PE fibres with the stability of a PP backing. ONE-DNA™ Pure PT One is offered in this route only.
18 mm. The full construction data is stated in the technical datasheet.
Built with FuseTech™, which bonds the fibres into the backing with heat instead of a latex or polyurethane secondary coating.
Tufted. Yarn type, pile weight, stitch density and roll dimensions are stated in the technical datasheet.
No infill needed.
A shared soccer and hockey pitch is normally built over a shockpad. Ball roll, ball rebound and the response underfoot are measured on the installed pitch, so synthetic turf, shockpad and base are specified together. Tell us about your project and we'll advise on the build-up.
For soccer and hockey, a pitch is tested on completion by an institute accredited by the relevant governing body, and again at intervals after that. A product approval belongs to the product that was tested, and a pitch certificate to the pitch. Tell us the standard your project has to meet and we'll set out the evidence available.
650 l/min/m², the same for every ONE-DNA™ product.
Reaction to fire for ONE-DNA™ Pure PT One depends on the installed build-up. No reaction-to-fire test result is published yet for this product. Ask us if your project has a fire requirement.
Warranty and maintenance conditions are set out in our warranty terms.

Why this product

Built for shared sport

Two reasons this product exists, and where it belongs.

Soccer and hockey on one pitch

Schools, councils, clubs and community sports grounds that need both sports on one site, and a pitch that is in use across the whole week.

Measured on the installed pitch

Soccer and hockey performance is a property of the complete build-up of synthetic turf, shockpad and base, and is confirmed by testing the installed pitch.

Related knowledge

Yes, where the pitch is planned for both sports from the start. FIFA and the FIH, the world governing body for hockey, have published joint performance and construction guidelines for pitches shared by soccer and hockey, aimed at community, school, university and club use. A shared pitch serves both sports at those levels of play. It does not replace a dedicated competition pitch for either sport, and whether a particular pitch meets the guidelines is decided by testing the installed pitch.
For schools, councils, community facilities and clubs that need soccer and hockey on one site, and for the developers, architects and consultants who plan those sites. It suits projects where land, budget or planning allow one synthetic turf pitch rather than two, and where the pitch has to stay in use across the week.
No. 3G is a common term for a longer-pile soccer surface with rubber crumb or another performance infill. Hockey asks for a shorter, denser surface with a faster, truer ball roll, which is why pitches shared by soccer and hockey use a different type of surface. The construction of ONE-DNA™ Pure PT One is stated in the technical datasheet and the installation guidelines for this product.
Normally, yes. A shared soccer and hockey pitch is built over a shockpad, and the shockpad is part of the system that is tested. We'll advise on the shockpad together with the rest of the build-up.
By testing the installed pitch. An institute accredited by the relevant governing body tests the pitch on completion and at intervals after that. FIFA Basic, for example, is a certification for installed pitches, not an approval for a synthetic turf product. That is why a specification should name the complete build-up and the standard the pitch has to meet, rather than the grass alone.
ONE-DNA™ 100% PO combines the softness of PE fibres with the stability of a PP backing: two polymers from the same polyolefin family. In ONE-DNA™ Pure PT One, it is built with FuseTech™ and without a conventional latex or polyurethane secondary coating. The construction is designed for recycling; whether it is recycled depends on collection and the processing available locally.
