Organized by KSP Kunstgras, the event brought together manufacturers, installers, recyclers and industry specialists to exchange knowledge and discuss practical approaches to resource-conscious infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h4>Collaboration Across the Value Chain<\/h4>\n<p>The transition towards more circular systems requires cooperation throughout the entire value chain. From product design and material selection to installation, maintenance and end-of-life processing, each stage influences how materials can be retained and reused.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar provided an opportunity for industry professionals to share experiences, discuss current challenges and explore developments that support more efficient use of resources in sports and play environments.<\/p>\n<h4>Practical Insights from the Industry<\/h4>\n<p>The afternoon program was opened by Joost Sweep of KSP Kunstgras, who shared insights into the company\u2019s ongoing initiatives related to operational efficiency, material use and CO\u2082 reduction. Particular attention was given to activities supporting progress towards Level 5 certification on the CO\u2082 Performance Ladder.<\/p>\n<p>Several guest speakers then presented developments from different parts of the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Lokhorst of Schmitz Foam discussed recent innovations in shock pad technology and the role these systems can play in extending product life and supporting material recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Jasper Eppingbroek introduced the principles behind ONE-DNA\u2122, an artificial grass system in 100% PE (one polymer) designed to simplify recycling processes and retain material value at end-of-life. By reducing material complexity, mono-material systems can help make future recycling processes more straightforward and efficient.<\/p>\n<p>Jan Kolijn concluded the session with an overview of the recycling challenges associated with traditional multi-material artificial grass systems. His presentation highlighted the importance of considering end-of-life processing during product development and explained how material composition influences recycling possibilities.<\/p>\n<h4>From Design to Reuse<\/h4>\n<p>A recurring theme throughout the seminar was the importance of designing products with their next lifecycle in mind. Participants discussed how choices made during product development can influence material recovery, processing efficiency and future reuse opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than viewing recycling as a challenge to be addressed at the end of a product\u2019s life, speakers emphasized the value of considering circular design principles from the very beginning.<\/p>\n<h4>Looking Ahead<\/h4>\n<p>The strong participation from organizations across the sector demonstrated a shared interest in developing practical solutions that support responsible resource use and long-term infrastructure value.<\/p>\n<p>By sharing knowledge and strengthening collaboration throughout the supply chain, the industry continues to build a foundation for future developments in circular design, material recovery and sustainable recreational infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar showed that meaningful progress begins with open dialogue, practical innovation and a collective commitment to continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<p><em>Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA\u2122 range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE).
