Following a project completed in 2022<\/a>, the municipality of Lansingerland selected ONE-DNA\u2122 artificial grass for a second community sports and play facility.<\/p>\n

The project was developed to improve a heavily used recreational area where natural grass surfaces had become difficult to maintain due to intensive use by schoolchildren and local residents.<\/p>\n

Responding to community needs<\/h4>\n

The original playground design incorporated natural grass, planting and wooden play elements. Over time, the playing surface experienced significant wear due to daily use and varying weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Following requests from local users and discussions with residents, the municipality evaluated several options to improve the usability of the space.<\/p>\n

The project was subsequently delivered by partner KSP Kunstgras and officially opened on 31 May with a community soccer event attended by local residents, students and municipal representatives.<\/p>\n

Product selection<\/h4>\n

According to Serge Meeuws, Green Space Manager for the municipality, previous experience with ONE-DNA\u2122 influenced the decision-making process.<\/p>\n

The ONE-DNA\u2122 field installed previously has continued to perform well, which contributed to our decision to select the product again for this location.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the time, the municipality was also evaluating similar product applications for future playground projects where hard-wearing recreational surfaces were required.<\/p>\n

Supporting active play<\/h4>\n

Municipalities increasingly seek to create outdoor environments that encourage movement, recreation and social interaction.<\/p>\n

In locations that experience intensive use throughout the year, artificial grass can provide a practical alternative where natural grass surfaces are difficult to maintain.<\/p>\n

At the time, ONE-DNA\u2122 artificial grass was made in 100% PE (one polymer) and used for landscaping, playground and recreational sports applications.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead<\/h4>\n

The Lansingerland project demonstrates how municipalities can combine community participation, thoughtful design and practical surface solutions to create outdoor spaces that remain attractive and functional for local residents.<\/p>\n

As demand for hard-wearing and low-maintenance recreational environments continues to grow, projects such as this provide valuable examples of how outdoor play and sports facilities can be adapted to meet changing community needs.<\/p>\n

Update, October 2026: this project used ONE-DNA\u2122 in 100% PE. ONE-DNA\u2122 sport surfaces are now supplied in 100% PO; see Technology<\/a> for the current material routes.<\/em><\/p>\n
