Material composition, product documentation and independently verified product information are becoming important factors in the decision-making process.<\/p>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 artificial grass was developed in 100% PE (one polymer) and was supported by a range of independent assessments and technical documentation.<\/p>\n<h4>What is a mono-material product?<\/h4>\n<p>Many artificial grass products are manufactured using combinations of different polymers, coatings and backing materials.<\/p>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 artificial grass was made in 100% PE (one polymer).<\/p>\n<p>Using a single polymer throughout the product enables a different design approach compared with products that combine multiple material types.<\/p>\n<h4>Product documentation and transparency<\/h4>\n<p>Independent documentation plays an increasingly important role in product evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 products are supported by a range of assessments and test reports that provide information regarding product composition, performance and material characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>These included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), verified via MRPI in 2024 (A1 to A3, former Hasselt production)<\/li>\n<li>Fire classification testing<\/li>\n<li>EN 71-3 testing<\/li>\n<li>Leaching assessments<\/li>\n<li>Product ageing assessments<\/li>\n<li>Material composition evaluations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, these documents provide objective information that can support project planning and product selection.<\/p>\n<h4>Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)<\/h4>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 products were covered by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), independently verified via MRPI in 2024 for the product stage (A1 to A3) of the former Hasselt production.<\/p>\n<p>An EPD is a standardised document that provides information about a product based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and follows internationally recognised methodologies.<\/p>\n<p>EPDs enable products performing the same function to be assessed using a common framework and provide transparency regarding environmental information.<\/p>\n<h4>Independent testing<\/h4>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 products have undergone testing by independent organisations to assess various aspects of product performance and material behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product Ageing Assessments<\/li>\n<li>Accelerated ageing tests provide information about material behaviour following exposure to simulated long-term environmental conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Leaching Assessments<\/li>\n<li>Independent testing has been carried out in accordance with recognised European standards to evaluate the release of substances under specified test conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Fire Classification<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Selected ONE-DNA\u2122 products have been tested against applicable fire classification standards for specific applications.<\/p>\n<h4>Safety testing<\/h4>\n<p>Testing in accordance with EN 71-3 provides information regarding the migration of certain elements and supports applications where child safety considerations are important.<\/p>\n<p>Product Selection Considerations<\/p>\n<p>When evaluating artificial grass products, factors commonly considered include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Appearance<\/li>\n<li>Performance<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance requirements<\/li>\n<li>Product composition<\/li>\n<li>Independent test results<\/li>\n<li>Available certifications<\/li>\n<li>Environmental documentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The relative importance of these criteria will depend on the specific requirements of each project.<\/p>\n<h4>Looking ahead<\/h4>\n<p>As demand for product transparency continues to grow, independent testing and documented product information are becoming increasingly important.<\/p>\n<p>ONE-DNA\u2122 artificial grass reflected a focus on 100% PE (one polymer) product design, technical documentation and independently verified product information, providing customers with objective data that can support informed decision-making.<\/p>\n<p><em>Update, October 2026: this article reflects the ONE-DNA\u2122 range at the time of publication, based on polyethylene (PE).
